The Washington County Property Records and Taxpayer Services Department is seeking a dependable, organized, and collaborative professional to serve as our Elections Coordinator. This position requires an experienced elections professional with sound judgment, attention to detail and ability to manage complex projects in a fast‑paced, highly visible public service environment. Candidates should have experience in election administration and a demonstrated understanding of the laws, processes and responsibilities required to conduct secure, accurate and transparent elections.
The Elections Coordinator coordinates the technical and operational work necessary to administer federal, state, county, municipal, school district and special elections. Working in partnership with the Elections Division Manager, the role collaborates with local election officials, state agencies, elected officials, vendors and the public to ensure elections are conducted with integrity, accuracy, security, transparency and compliance with all applicable laws.
Desirable Experience- Three or more years of progressively responsible paid experience in election administration.
- Previous work experience coordinating or administering federal, state, county, municipal, school district or special elections.
- Experience interpreting and applying federal, state or local election statutes, rules, regulations and policies.
- Experience leading complex projects involving multiple stakeholders, competing priorities and strict statutory deadlines.
- Experience using election management systems, statewide voter registration systems, election technology or other software to support election administration.
Typical business hours are 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Hours may vary during election season. Work nights, weekends and/or holidays may be required to meet deadlines.
Anticipated Hiring Rate$38.32 – $52.30 hourly.

Job SummaryThe Property Records & Taxpayer Services Elections Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and administering election operations in accordance with federal, state and local laws. The position plans, organizes and oversees critical election functions including voter registration, absentee and early voting, candidate filing, election technology, ballot programming, training and election reporting to ensure accurate, secure, accessible and transparent elections for all voters.
Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in public administration, business, communication or a closely related field and two (2) years of related work experience in any combination of elections, training, project management or public administration; or
- High school diploma or GED and five (5) years directly related work experience in any combination of elections, training, project management or public administration.
Within a year of being hired, the Elections Coordinator must obtain County Auditor certification in accordance with Minnesota Statute 204B.27 and MR 8240.
