Phlebotomist/Lab Assistant
Lakeview Hospital is hiring for a part-time Phlebotomist/Lab Assistant.
Position Summary Statement:
This position is responsible for performing phlebotomies and receiving/processing specimens to ensure high quality in the preanalytical phase of laboratory testing.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Education, Experience or Equivalent Combination:o High School Diploma or equivalent
• Licensure/ Registration/ Certification:o Some positions, as identified by the Laboratory Manager, will be required to drive to various sites to perform phlebotomy. If required, must have a valid driver's license and meet all criteria required under Lakeview's Automobile Liability Guidelines.
• Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:o Knowledge and skills sufficient to provide technical instructions and communicate and advise other departments on clinical laboratory procedures
Preferred Qualifications:
• Education, Experience or Equivalent Combination:o Completion of health care program (e.g. Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Paramedic, Phlebotomy).
• Licensure/ Registration/ Certification:o Phlebotomy Certification
• Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:o Medical Terminology knowledgeo Previous phlebotomy experienceo Typing or keyboarding skills
Essential Duties: 1. (50%) - Consistently performs phlebotomy using department protocols and procedures to assure quality specimens. This includes serving all patient populations including ages, cultures, languages, literacy, learning needs and abilities. 2. (50%) – Championing great customer service whenever we intersect with our customers- directly or via telephone. All requests are followed up accurately and efficiently in a friendly manner.
