Custodian

Overview

Washington County is currently hiring for a Custodian. Monday through Friday, staff may be assigned to different county facilities based on need. Weekends will be spent supporting libraries throughout Washington County. See Hours and Days below for further information on available schedules. Must be self-motivated and able to drive a county vehicle between buildings. Must be comfortable working in a jail setting while a Corrections Officer is present.

- 5:30 p.m.) required with weekday schedule negotiable. Work schedules (hours and days) and location are subject to change based on department needs.

$19.68 - $23.22 Hourly

Washington County participates in the federal E-Verify program. This means that Washington County will provide the Social Security Administration (SSA) and, if necessary, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), with information from each new employee's Form I-9 to confirm work authorization. This position requires a high school diploma, or equivalent. Individuals operating a motor vehicle for County business must possess a valid driver s license.

Custodial work experience in commercial buildings and building cleaning techniques coursework is highly desirable. Growth through Internal opportunities is available.

• Demonstrates knowledge of appropriate safety measures when cleaning; procedures, practices, materials, and equipment and their proper utilization in the care and maintenance of buildings and grounds
• Demonstrates the ability to perform manual tasks and functions including under adverse weather conditions
• Demonstrates the ability to operate various cleaning and maintenance equipment
• Demonstrates ability to use products and materials appropriate for the intended use and follow procedures to prevent exposure to self, tenants, or public of hazardous conditions
• Demonstrates the ability to determine and use appropriate safety equipment

• Perform scheduled interior and exterior maintenance tasks: clean, disinfect, and re-supply restrooms; gather and empty trash; clean floors, furniture, fixtures, dust surfaces, clean windows and mirrors; vacuum and extract carpets; strip, seal and finish floors; set up, arrange and move tables, chairs, and equipment for meetings and events; perform preventive maintenance on assigned equipment; update usage reports and complete forms and logs
• Inspect and perform ground maintenance, including debris removal, sidewalk sweeping, and entry point maintenance
• Perform snow and ice control tasks and operate motorized equipment; monitor inventory and replenish supplies
• Maintain building security: ensure doors are locked, set security systems, and report alarms or potential equipment failures
• May lead a team in the absence of the Lead Custodian
• Perform other related duties as assigned
