This position exists so that the Physical Plant of the Correctional Facility is properly managed to ensure the safety, health and comfort of the staff, visitors and incarcerated persons, alike, and that the multi-million-dollar investments in the physical structure are preserved.

Primary

Responsibilities include:

+ Manage Facility Operations:
Directing building, grounds, mechanical, electrical, and utility systems maintenance.

+ Oversee Infrastructure & Utilities:
Supervising the local waterworks system and managing multiple emergency power generators.

+ Direct Construction Projects:
Planning, prioritizing, and managing major repairs, remodeling, and new construction activities.

+ Supervise Plant Staff:
Interviewing, evaluating, disciplining, and managing direct reports across maintenance, electrical, and engineering teams.

+ Control Plant Budget:
Projecting future operational costs and approving or disapproving all departmental expenditures.

+ Drive Resource Conservation:
Directing and reviewing sustainability, energy, fuel, and water conservation programs.

** Minimum Qualifications*
* To be qualified for and considered for this position, applicants must meet all the minimum qualifications listed below.  Ensure that your resume contains descriptions of your work experiences sufficient for comparison against the requirements stated below and indicate the beginning and ending dates for each job held.

+ Four (4) years' experience in facilities management, construction management or business management, including developing and managing budgets and financial analysis, planning and directing major repairs, remodeling and new construction; and directing the work of contractors.
* Bachelor's degree in construction management, facilities management, or a related field can be substituted for one (1) year of experience.

+ Experience supervising operations and/or maintenance staff

_Applicants meeting the above minimum qualifications will be further assessed on the following:_

+ Knowledge of State and Federal codes, compliance and regulations such as Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Life Safety, Haz Mat codes, Fire Marshal orders, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements, and Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) rules and regulations.

+ Effective communication skills with the ability to clearly share and understand information across all levels of an organization.

+ Experience in process improvement, such as preventative maintenance, and/or work request system.
