Administrative Nursing Supervisor (ANS)
The Administrative Nursing Supervisor (ANS) is responsible for coordinating and facilitating patient care and optimizing patient flow within the hospital. The ANS is a resource to patient care staff for problem‑solving care issues, utilization of resources, and policy/procedure interpretation during assigned shifts. This position helps and facilitates efforts of personnel from all departments in providing patient care services. The ANS collaborates with charge RNs in resource utilization.
The ANS assists hospital administrator on‑call for any house‑wide or high‑risk issues that occur during off‑shifts and weekends.
Work Schedule:
0.75 Night, 7p-7a, Every 3rd weekend
This is a temporary position with an anticipated duration of approximately 6 months
Required Qualifications- Graduation from a Registered Nurse (RN) program.
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing OR Associate degree in Nursing
- Minimum 3 years of hospital related acute care clinical experience; previous supervisory experience
- Licensed as an RN by Minnesota Board of Nursing or has a Wisconsin RN License and Minnesota Board of Nursing State Registry.
- Strong communication, conflict resolution and collaboration skills
- Ability to problem solve and delegate effectively.
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills (coaching, mentoring, and role modeling)
- Demonstrated leadership skills (change agent, team building, decision‑making, critical thinking, continuous quality improvement, systems thinking)
- Knowledge of current nursing practices/standards.
- Knowledge of infection control practices and their relation to patient outcomes.
- Knowledge of change management principles & skilled as a change agent.
- Skilled in use of computers for data collection and documentation.
- Ability to be collaborative with others, flexible and accepting of ambiguous situations.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of staff and other disciplines, patients, family members, general public and external agencies.
- Ability to quickly prioritize job duties.
- Current BLS – American Heart Association or BLS – American Red Cross (CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer & Health Care Provider)
- ACLS certification required from AHA within 6 months of start date if not present at hire.
- PALS / ENPC certification required within 6 months of start date if not present at hire.
- Acute care RN experience in more than one specialty or level of care
- Specialty Certification in the RN’s area of expertise (e.g. CCRN, PCCN, CNOR, CPAN, CAPA, etc)
