Job Description
As a Patient Care Assistant (HUC/Nursing Assistant), you will work under the direction of a Registered Nurse to assist in delivery of patient care including personal hygiene and daily activities, transporting patients and equipment, setting up and maintaining patient rooms, and reordering/stocking of supplies. You are responsible for coordination of communications and procedures for the nursing unit, processing electronic orders and assembling patient’s charts and other necessities.
WorkSchedule
20 hrs weekly; 0.5 FTE;
Days (7:00am-3:30pm) & Evenings (3:00pm-11:30pm) with every other weekend rotation.
- Must have one of the following:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- HS Diploma in progress and Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry
- Equivalent work experience in lieu of HS diploma or equivalent may be considered
- Current BLS – American Heart Association or BLS – American Red Cross (CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer & Health Care Provider)
- Must have strong organizational, multi‑tasking, and communication skills with a customer‑service orientation.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Demonstrates basic computer skills or the ability to achieve proficiency within 3 months.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with patients, visitors, and co‑workers.
- Ability to independently initiate appropriate tasks within the scope of practice of the position.
- Ability to provide individualized care and respond to a variety of patient/family preferences.
- Ability to provide an exceptional patient experience utilizing strong customer service skills.
- Ability to set priorities and manage time effectively.
- CNA experience
- HUC or unit clerk experience
- Microsoft Office experience
- Prior experience in acute care or hospital setting
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry
- Knowledge of pre‑ and post‑op surgical/orthopedic and general medical patients
- Knowledge and care in the use of all specialized orthopedic equipment
- Knowledge of routine order sets in Epic
