About this Position
The College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology (CEAT) invites applications for an Accounting Specialist on our financial operations team. Individuals on the finance team work collaboratively to ensure consistent training and support across the college and to advise appropriately on policies and procedures.
The Accounting Specialist provides financial liaison support for assigned departments within CEAT. This support includes but is not limited to advising on college and university policies and procedures, verification of labor redistributions, P-Card corrections forms, Retroactive Cost Transfer forms, and Time & Effort monitoring. The Accounting Specialist actively trains departmental staff and answers questions regarding OK Corral, Banner, and the Works system.
Other primary responsibilities include but are not limited to approving travel requests and vouchers for the college, assisting with P-Card administration, collecting and verifying the accuracy of receipts, paying invoices, and reconciling funds monthly for units within the CEAT Dean’s Office and other smaller departments within the college.
The Accounting Specialist must be able to manage their time effectively, maintain organization of their assignments, and be customer service oriented. They must be able to work collaboratively on a team as well as independently, and must be able to handle special projects when assigned.

Required Qualifications- High School/GED (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
- 2 years of experience in accounting/Bookkeeping. Post-secondary education may substitute for years of required experience.
- Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:
- Knowledge:
- General principles, methods, and practices related to accounting/bookkeeping activities
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel)
- Skills:
- Intermediate Excel; generating reports
- Analytical; problem-solving and attention to detail
- Manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines
- Customer service oriented
- Abilities:
- Maintain confidential information
- Exercise initiative and independent judgment
- Work effectively both independently and when collaborating with a team
- Ability to learn the budget development system and interpret the university financial reports
- Knowledge:
- One year of financial experience.
