Executive Assistant

A Republican state Senator is seeking a full‑time Executive Assistant to manage their Capitol office, communicate with constituents, and support legislative activities. The ideal candidate will be proactive, highly organized, and committed to serving the people of Oklahoma with integrity, trustworthiness, and a strong work ethic.

Job Responsibilities
  • Manage the Senator’s legislative and official schedule, coordinating scheduling requests.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for constituents, displaying empathy and professionalism and connecting individuals with resources.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of current public policy issues.
  • Establish and maintain an effective system for tracking the Senator’s sponsored bills and other legislation.
  • Assist in preparing reports and conducting research as needed, and maintain current files of legislation for daily agendas.
  • Coordinate bill and amendment drafting requests with staff and external stakeholders.
  • Manage the Senator’s correspondence, proofread all communications, reports, and documents to ensure they are polished and error‑free.
  • Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders, especially within the Senator’s district.
  • Manage office supplies and the Senate office supply account.
  • Submit the Senator’s requests for mileage and per diem reimbursement.
  • Perform other related Senate work as required and assigned.
Qualifications
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a commitment to constituent service and community engagement.
  • High level of discretion, confidentiality, and independent judgment regarding scheduling priorities.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, other legislative offices, and constituent groups.
  • Basic knowledge of the legislative process and terminology (preferred).
  • Proficient knowledge of Office 365 and the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to communicate with a variety of personalities in a tactful and professional manner.
Education and Experience

At least two (2) years of experience in standard clerical and office procedures and duties. Knowledge of the legislative process is preferred.

Compensation

The annual salary is $60,500, plus an excellent state employee benefits package.
