The role supports the BV Construction group by providing expert training, career development, and technology integration to ensure safety, quality, and final product excellence in construction projects. Functions include safety, project field management, construction management, quality control, start‑up, decommissioning, and field engineering.
Key Responsibilities- Assist the Construction Manager in ensuring adherence by all site supervision to the Owner’s Safety, Quality, Ethical Standards, Lessons Learned and Black & Veatch Performance Management programs.
- Engage proactively to correct unsafe acts and conditions.
- Monitor project work, verify and report on construction activities for compliance with CPM schedule and other plans; track and report schedule activity completion.
- Resolve problems early, drive timely decisions, and report on drawings, schedules, quality, quantity, cost, and safety issues.
- Take necessary actions to maintain targets and ensure adherence to Black & Veatch standards and lessons learned.
- Communicate issues and lessons learned for potential future implementation.
- Participate in foreman meetings to review and assist in daily, weekly, and monthly planning.
- Develop and monitor a 3‑Week Look‑Ahead Schedule for assigned work scope.
- Verify availability of materials, manpower, and other resources to support the schedule.
- Develop, monitor, and report on completion of punch list activities.
- Maintain a comprehensive daily log of site issues, directions, progress, and delays.
- Develop and distribute a Job Hazard Analysis for major erection packages.
- Identify potential back charges and out‑of‑scope issues and report to the Construction Manager.
- Support commercial recovery processes and provide supervision, training, and performance management to direct reports.
- Adhere to safety and quality standards, support continuous improvement, and embody change management.
- Act in the capacity of a supervisor without direct managerial responsibility.
- Construction Management or Engineering degree.
- Boilermaker construction experience.
- Budget and cost control skills.
- Knowledge of union agreements, industrial relations, and jurisdictional issues.
- Understanding of company construction guides and manuals.
- Construction safety awareness.
- Conflict management and multi‑tasking ability.
- Problem‑solving, project management, and communication skills.
- Constructability knowledge and conceptual planning ability.
- Legal contract understanding (EPC/Subcontracts).
- Leadership and human relations skills.
- Risk assessment and time reporting proficiency.
- Cost code labor productivity and expense reporting knowledge.
- Administrative policy and computer skills.
• 5+ years of construction field leadership experience on equivalent projects.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to complete pre‑employment onboarding requirements (background checks, drug screen, motor‑vehicle records).
• OSHA 10 certification.
- Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Stand, kneel, bend, stoop, and walk long distances in confined spaces.
- See and hear naturally or with correction.
- Use hands to handle tools or controls per procedure.
- Perform repetitive movements and work above 5 feet.
- Climb and maintain balance on steel framework, stairs, ladders, and scaffolds.
- Work up to a 12‑hour shift in varying temperature extremes.
- Typical construction site environment with cramped spaces and awkward positions.
- Exposure to extreme temperatures, inclement weather, dust, wind, snow, and rain.
- Bright or low lighting conditions with potential noise and hazardous equipment.
- Typical office environment for administrative tasks.
- Position considered safety‑sensitive.
