Education Administration, Training Instructor / Specialist
- Graduate from a Career Tech technical program is preferred.
- Two years of recent work experience as a full-time welder is required. Three to five years of work experience is preferred.
- Must possess knowledge and skill as needed for a structural welder.
- The candidate must have or be willing to obtain teacher certification as required by the Oklahoma Department of Career Tech.
1. Develop and present curriculum related to welding to high school and adult students in such a manner as to provide them with marketable job skills in welding upon completion of the training program.
2. Evaluate the accomplishments of students and submit weekly eligibility reports.
3. Submit nine-week grades and course grades in the student information system. Meet with students on a regular basis to review their plan of study progress.
4. Confidentially communicate with students on a regular basis regarding their skill level, practical application, grade, and soft skill level.
5. Develop and communicate strategies for maximum improvement with each student.
6. Establish an advisory council of successful leaders in the welding industry to provide input into the relevance of curriculum and equipment used in the Welding Technology program and meet with this council formally at least once each year.
7. Maintain continuous contact with businesses and industries throughout the district who employ persons in the welding trade. Gain information regarding new techniques, equipment, or potential jobs which could be implemented in the Welding Technology program, as well as seek employment for graduating students and ideas for curriculum development and recruitment.
8. Abide by all policies and procedures adopted by the Meridian Technology Center Board of Education and assist instructional leaders in implementing all policies and/or procedures governing student conduct.
9. Join and participate in professional and trade associations, as well as civic organizations.
10. Attend all staff meetings called by the Superintendent, Executive Director of Instruction, and the Director of Instruction.
11. Maintain records and prepare and submit on time all reports required by the Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent and the Director of Instruction.
12. Maintain accurate inventory records and closely monitor use of inventory items in the Welding Technology program to prevent loss, damage, or theft.
13. Utilize assigned working hours (7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.) efficiently and report to the Director of Instruction any exceptions. Be available in the program to assist students by 7:40 a.m. and 12:35 p.m. daily as well as after scheduled class time.
14. Promote Meridian Technology Center, its programs, and employees at every available opportunity, with specific responsibilities for recruitment and promotion of the Welding Technology program.
15. Maintain up‑to‑date equipment in the Welding Technology program for relevant training of students.
16. Work with students involved in the Skills
USA organization to develop leadership skills.
17. Place qualified students in realistic on‑the‑job training situations or full‑time employment upon satisfactory completion of the Welding Technology program.
18. Perform maintenance on machines as needed and when applicable to keep the equipment in top operating condition.
19. Order materials for daily student and livework projects as needed throughout the school year, utilizing proper purchasing procedures.
20. Must be able to simulate realistic job‑related situations and incorporate work‑based learning.
21. Must be able to lift items weighing as much as 50 pounds and/or to push items weighing up to 100 pounds on a dolly or cart.
