21st Community Learning Centers and Family & Community Engagement Specialist; Program S

The Program Specialist II position is located in Agency 13 of the Nebraska Department of Education at 84th & O St, Lincoln, NE. The role supports 21st Century Community Learning Centers and Family & Community Engagement initiatives to enhance educational opportunities for children and families.

Pay Grade 7: $30.979 per hour. Total benefits approximate $27,300 annually.

• Provide administrative support for 21st Century Community Learning Centers, including grant management and reporting, program and fiscal monitoring, and grant system processes.
• Assist with conferences, meetings, and events to promote best practices and continuous improvement.
• Offer technical support to grant recipients of the Expanded Learning Opportunity Grant Fund and ensure compliance with grant limitations.
• Ensure Family & Community Engagement initiatives align with best practices and Nebraska Department of Education goals and initiatives (e.g., AQuESTT, the Comprehensive Needs Assessment, and the Nebraska State Board of Education Strategic Plan).
• Organize conferences, meetings, and events to facilitate continuous improvement and disseminate information.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, other NDE offices, and priority schools to enhance family and community engagement in the school improvement process.
• Identify and share strategies to support school districts in building the capacity of educators, community partners, and family members.
• Maintain regular attendance, travel independently, and work in a variety of settings.

• Minimum:
  Bachelor’s degree in a related field and at least three years of experience related to the essential functions of the position. Equivalent education or work experience may substitute to meet minimum qualifications.
• Preferred:
  Master’s degree in education and at least four years of successful K‑12 teaching or school administration experience working with educationally disadvantaged youth, families, and community-based organizations.
• Experience with the school-based Continuous Improvement Process and Nebraska after school/summer programs such as 21st CCLC.

The position requires approximately 85% of the work time spent in an office and 15% traveling to schools and other sites. About ten overnight trips occur annually.
