About this Position

Assistant Professor of Computer Science

The Oklahoma State University (OSU) Department of Computer Science is seeking applications for an assistant professor in a tenure-track position with a start date of January 2027. Preferred research and teaching interests are in artificial intelligence, machine learning, big data analytics, or related areas with a solid track record in the core Computer Science domains.

Responsibilities

We are seeking a dynamic applicant to expand the department’s excellence in the educational, research and outreach mission of our department. The successful candidate should have a demonstrated research record along with the potential for teaching, program growth, and service excellence. Faculty are expected to pursue research collaborations with other faculty, industry, and research institutions as well as to further the university’s land grant mission through excellence in teaching and outreach activities.

All faculty members are also expected to support the department's efforts in developing and teaching courses for our online certificate and degree programs and may be assigned to either the Tulsa or Stillwater campus.

The OSU Department of Computer Science ((Use the "Apply for this Job" box below).) is strongly committed to excellence in research, teaching, and outreach. The Department offers B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science, a B.S. degree in Applied Computer Programming, and two new interdisciplinary M.S. programs in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science. The Department also offers online courses to students at remote sites. Our recent student enrollment is approximately 420 undergraduate and 100 graduate students across all our majors with expected continued growth over the coming years.

Required Qualifications
  • Ph.D in Computer Science or closely related discipline.
    (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
  • Demonstrated research background as evidenced by conference and journal publications.
Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively mentor and collaborate with students and colleagues.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Evidence of high-quality research with a trajectory of building a national profile.
  • Evidence of successful college or university-level teaching and mentorship.
