  • Act as an in‑house technical resource for chemical safety, hazardous materials handling, electrical and mechanical safety, and industrial hygiene.
  • Create and deliver OSHA‑compliant training programs and site‑specific training content for employees and contractors.
  • Lead risk assessments, JHAs, and incident investigations, ensuring timely corrective actions and lessons learned.
  • Partner with engineering, operations, and contractors to integrate EHS into design, construction, commissioning, and production activities.
  • Track and report safety metrics and leading/lagging indicators to management.
  • Champion Stop Work Authority and foster an accountable safety culture.
  • Support emergency preparedness, chemical spill response, and fire/life safety planning.
  • Mentor employees at all levels to reinforce ownership of safety.
  • Support environmental compliance activities including stormwater, SPCC, hazardous waste, wastewater, and air permitting programs.
  • Participate in process hazard reviews, management of change (MOC), pre‑startup safety reviews (PSSR), commissioning, and operational readiness activities.
  • Coordinate contractor safety activities including permit‑to‑work systems, energy control coordination, barricading/red zone control, and high‑risk work oversight.
  • Support emergency preparedness systems including gas detection, alarm response, spill response, evacuation planning, and fire/life safety coordination.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 5–7 years of progressive EHS experience in construction, manufacturing, chemical, or high‑hazard industries.
  • Strong knowledge of chemical hazard communication, PPE, ventilation controls, and process safety principles.
  • Experience supporting high‑hazard manufacturing, chemical processing, metals, energy, or similar industrial operations preferred.
  • Familiarity with combustible dust hazards, reactive materials, industrial ventilation, gas systems, and process safety concepts preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple projects, inspections, corrective actions, and training systems simultaneously.
  • Experience in electrical/mechanical safety including Arc Flash (NFPA 70E), LOTO, and commissioning.
  • Demonstrated ability to create policies, procedures, and engaging training programs.
  • OSHA Authorized Trainer preferred; other certifications (CSP, CIH, CHMM, etc.) highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills with proven ability to engage both shop floor and executive levels.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities; capable of building practical, scalable EHS solutions.
