About This PositionThis position is responsible for performing maintenance, inspection, and repair of university-owned aircraft in support of the FAA Part 141 flight training program. The A&P Mechanic ensures all aircraft are maintained in accordance with applicable Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations and manufacturer specifications to support safe and efficient flight operations.
Required Qualifications- High School/GED (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
- FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Certificate.
- Knowledge of FAA regulations and general aviation maintenance practices.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
- Attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Organizational and time management abilities.
- Basic computer proficiency.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Associate's Aviation Maintenance Technology or related field.
- One (1) to three (3) years of general aviation maintenance experience.
- Experience with piston-powered training aircraft (e.g., Cessna, Piper, Cirrus).
- Experience in a Part 141 or Part 145 environment.
- Familiarity with computerized maintenance tracking systems.
