Job Description & How to Apply Below

We are on a mission to become a leading supplier of critical materials that enable the green energy and technology revolution. Our materials and technologies are required for the electric vehicle, green energy, consumer electronics, and defense industries, and our battery grade lithium and tech metals are needed for chipsets, semiconductors, and 5G.

We have a substantial interest in the Round Top, Heavy Rare Earth, Lithium and Critical Minerals deposit in West Texas. We have also developed the United States’ first rare earth and critical minerals processing facility and we own the only scalable, sintered neo-magnet manufacturing system in the Western Hemisphere. By developing this fully integrated, US-based “mine-to-magnet” critical mineral supply chain, we are poised to become the leading domestic supplier to these industries.

What you can expect:

At USA Rare Earth, we are pioneers and problem solvers, technologists and team players. Together, we:

Establishing a rare earth magnet supply chain is a big undertaking – and getting there is a team effort. We communicate openly, work together and challenge each other in pursuit of our goals. With every step we take we learn and get better.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a Magnetics Engineer to support the development, optimization, and industrialization of high‑performance rare earth permanent magnets, with a primary focus on NdFeB magnet systems.

This is an entry level, hands‑on technical role responsible for supporting magnetic design, performance optimization, process‑property relationships, and manufacturing scale‑up. The ideal candidate combines deep expertise in magnetics theory and measurement with practical experience in magnetic material research and/or sintered magnet manufacturing and process development.

Key Responsibilities:

Materials & Process Integration
  • Support the development and implementation of heavy-rare-earth minimization or free approaches.
  • Support experimental projects that optimize process–structure–property relationships across powder preparation, alignment, compaction, sintering, grain growth, and annealing.
  • Evaluate alloy chemistry, microstructure, and phase behavior to improve magnetic performance and thermal stability.
Scale‑Up & Manufacturing Support
  • Assist product realization from lab and pilot‑scale magnet development to full‑scale production.
  • Support manufacturing operations related to magnetic variability, yield loss, or performance degradation.
  • Assist R&D, Quality, and Manufacturing teams on HREE-reduction approaches to meet the project goals/timelines.
Characterization & Validation
  • Actively engage with a variety of measurement techniques SEM, EBSD, XRD, LECO, etc during material development.
  • Correlate magnetic measurement results with microstructural analysis.
Technical Leadership
  • Mentor and train technicians in magnetics, fundamentals and best practices.
  • Support intellectual property development and technical documentation.
  • Represent USA Rare earth via trade shows, conferences or publications.
Required Qualifications
  • B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related field with a strong focus on magnetics or magnetic materials.
  • 3+ years (or equivalent advanced degree…
