About This PositionResponsible for sterilization of equipment and instruments. Responsible for wrapping surgery packs and laundry. Maintain equipment and supplies. Specifics:
Preparing medical equipment and instruments for decontamination. Operating equipment to clean, disinfect and decontaminate surgical instruments, medical devices and equipment. Inspecting instruments and equipment for signs of damage and wear. Unpacking, checking and stocking new equipment, instruments and devices. Delivering equipment and supplies to all areas of the hospital. Responding to emergency supply requests during surgical procedures. Maintaining accurate records of sterilization, equipment, and costs.
Processing laundry for all areas of the hospital according to specifications.
- High School/GED (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
- Central Sterile Technician I: HS/GED with one year of related experience. Attend online courses for Central Service Technical Training Certification from HSPA after successful completion of probationary period. Must be able to read and communicate.
Central Sterile Technician II: HS/GED with three year's related experience in a clinic or hospital setting. Passed the CRCST exam.
Central Sterile Technician III: HS/GED with five year's related experience in a clinic or hospital setting. Obtain additional certification in at least one area pertaining to Central Sterilization;
Biohazards;
Infection Control.
Post-secondary education may substitute for years of required experience. Must be able to lift 50 pounds, stand on ladder, stand for extended periods of time, stoop and bend, and work overhead and below waist level for extended periods of time.
Preferred Qualifications- High School/GED
- Five years’ experience in a clinic or hospital setting. Obtain additional Certification in at least one area pertaining to Central Sterilization;
Biohazards;
Infection Control.
Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST)
