Position: SUPV IT SPECIALIST (CUSTSPT)

Summary

This position is being recruited under 10 USC 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service. It is located in the DISA Project Portfolio Management Division and is part of the US Cyber Command mission.

Duties
  • Plan and supervise the work of a unit with defined programs and objectives in a fully established organizational structure.
  • Schedule workflow and assign tasks, adjusting workloads and modifying procedures to alleviate backlogs or delays.
  • Review completed work for technical adequacy and compliance with instructions.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge by studying relevant literature, attending seminars, and staying in contact with vendor personnel.
  • Serve as a technical information source both within and outside the command.
Conditions of Employment
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Males born after 12‑31‑59 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service.
  • This national security position may require access to classified information; a favorable suitability review and security clearance is required. Failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination.
  • Completion of Foundational Qualifications within 9 months and Residential Qualification requirements within 12 months is required.
  • May be subject to initial and random drug testing.
  • This is a Mission Essential position; incumbents may need to physically report to a duty station in certain situations.
Qualifications

Applicants must meet the following basic requirements and possess qualifying experience.

Basic Requirements
  • IT‑related experience demonstrating competencies appropriate to or above this position.
  • Experience in attention to detail, customer service, oral communication, and problem solving as described below.
Key Competencies
  • Attention to Detail – experience reviewing IT work or data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
  • Customer Service – experience maintaining customer relationships, assessing IT needs, and developing tailored solutions.
  • Oral Communication – briefing mid‑level management and IT staff on status of systems, projects, or daily operations, and communicating technical information to non‑technical audiences.
  • Problem Solving – identifying alternatives to address complex IT issues by gathering and applying information from multiple sources.
Qualifying Experience

At least one year of experience demonstrating the competencies required for immediate success, including:

  • Providing technical support to customers on hardware and software issues in accordance with organizational processes.
  • Providing technical guidance, advice, and support in troubleshooting issues and resolving complex problems for internal and external customers.
  • Developing and managing customer performance requirements and support policies and procedures.
Education

There is no substitution of education for the qualifying experience at the GG‑13 grade level.

Additional Information
  • Position in the Excepted Service; does NOT convey eligibility for conversion to the Competitive Service.
  • Three‑year trial period may be required if not previously completed in excepted or competitive service.
  • One‑year probationary period for assignment to a supervisory position.
  • Telework availability will be based on mission requirements and supervisory determination.
  • Drug testing and urinalysis may be required for designated positions.
  • This position is covered under DoD Manual 8140 and may be subject to future Cyber Workforce requirements.
  • Incumbent may be required to report or relocate within the United States during local/national emergencies.
