Position: Assistant Director of Residential Life 332013

About This Position

The Assistant Director of Residential Life works with the Housing & Residential Life Department to establish and maintain a community within the residence halls that is conducive to the academic and personal growth of students. This role administers and supervises single student housing operations, plans and implements student staff training, and advances the student development program. The Assistant Director advises and educates students, reviews and develops Residential Life policies, monitors and oversees student case summaries, monthly dashboard reports, building analytics, and case turnaround analysis.

In addition, the Assistant Director follows up on educational sanctions, creates and assesses departmental crisis management policies, and updates residence hall safety procedures. The assistant provides oversight of eleven residence halls housing over 2,600 students, supervises staff at all levels, assists in recruitment and training of residential living staff, implements operational and educational policies, coordinates with Facilities Management, and responds to resolution of resident issues.

During peak periods, the position requires evenings and weekends, and the assistant participates in crisis duty rotation and attends regional and national conferences. The assistant must reside within a 20‑minute driving distance to campus and travel periodically within a 1.5‑mile radius.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in College Student Development/Personnel, Higher Education, or related field (degree must be conferred on or before the start date)
  • Three years of experience in residence halls, administrative experience, or other student affairs areas
  • Proficiency in computer skills, including Microsoft Office, data analysis tools, and student management systems
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in College Student Development/Personnel, Higher Education, or related field
  • Experience in student conduct and organizational/student advising
  • Experience in residence hall program development
