The Assistant Production Manager plays a key leadership role in overseeing daily production operations, labor management, equipment maintenance, quality control, and operational efficiency. This hands‑on position works closely with the Production Manager to ensure production goals, quality standards, labor targets, and delivery timelines are consistently achieved in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment. This role requires active involvement on the production floor, including troubleshooting production issues, leading preventative maintenance efforts, and performing in‑house machine and equipment repairs whenever possible to minimize downtime and maintain operational continuity.

The Assistant Production Manager will also support process improvements, safety initiatives, and team development while helping drive productivity and operational performance.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily production operations to ensure schedules, labor targets, and quality standards are consistently achieved.
  • Lead production personnel through scheduling, training, onboarding, accountability, and performance management.
  • Monitor labor efficiency metrics, including productivity, overtime, downtime, personnel levels, schedule adherence, and first‑pass yield.
  • Track and report production KPIs while identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and optimize labor utilization.
  • Lead hands‑on troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and in‑house repairs of production equipment and machinery whenever possible.
  • Coordinate outside repairs, maintenance schedules, spare parts inventory, and vendor support when necessary.
  • Monitor equipment performance and proactively address recurring mechanical or operational issues.
  • Support Lean manufacturing, 5S initiatives, SOP development, and continuous improvement efforts throughout the department.
  • Ensure compliance with company quality standards, safety policies, and OSHA regulations.
  • Lead troubleshooting and corrective actions related to production defects, equipment failures, and operational inefficiencies.
  • Support new product launches, workflow updates, and operational testing as needed.
  • Maintain accurate production, maintenance, and operational documentation.
  • Support cross‑functional operational needs as required to maintain production flow and customer fulfillment timelines.
Qualifications
  • 3–5 years minimum experience supervising or managing teams in a manufacturing, production, or operations environment.
  • 5–7 years of experience in manufacturing, production, or industrial operations.
  • Strong understanding of production workflows, labor management, quality control, and workplace safety standards.
  • Hands‑on experience troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining industrial equipment and production machinery.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform in‑house equipment repairs whenever possible.
  • Experience with Lean manufacturing, 5S practices, process improvement, and SOP development preferred.
  • Skilled in KPI tracking, reporting, and production data analysis.
  • Proficient with computer software and production‑related systems.
  • Preferred:
    Experience with Adobe Acrobat.
  • Familiarity with personalization programs such as Adobe Illustrator or Job Control is a plus.
  • Strong leadership, communication, problem‑solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize deadlines, and perform effectively in a fast‑paced environment.
Compensation

$55,000–$70,000 yearly
