About This Position
The College of Veterinary Medicine Teaching Hospital at Oklahoma State University is seeking an enthusiastic person with a passion for small and large animals. Successful candidate will provide clinical assistance to professional staff and a variety of treatments to patients admitted to the Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH). Candidates will have the opportunity to actively participate in one‑on‑one training of veterinary students, as well as work alongside veterinary specialists to provide clients and patients with the highest standard of care.
Required Qualifications- High School/GED (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
- Veterinary Assistant – High school/GED with two years’ experience.
- Veterinary Technician I – Registered Veterinary Technician or completed associate degree in veterinary technology and will sit for the Oklahoma State Board of Examiner's technician certifying exam and obtain licensure within 120 days of hire.
- Veterinary Technician II – Three years' experience as a Veterinary Assistant/Technician or equivalent at an AVMA accredited teaching hospital, or large, multi‑clinician private veterinary practice.
- Veterinary Technician III – Six years' experience as a Veterinary Assistant/Technician or equivalent at an AVMA accredited teaching hospital, or large, multi‑clinician private veterinary practice.
- Senior Veterinary Technician – Eight years' experience as a Veterinary Assistant/Technician or equivalent at an AVMA accredited teaching hospital, or large, multi‑clinician private veterinary practice with greater than one year experience within a specific specialty.
- Veterinary Technician Specialist I – Registered Veterinary Technician. Veterinary Technician Specialist recognized by NAVTA; or have credentials in specialty that VTH defines as meriting recognition.
- Veterinary Technician Specialist II – Must meet all requirements of Veterinary Technician Specialist I. Five years of experience as Veterinary Technician Specialist recognized by NAVTA; or have credentials in specialty that VTH defines as meriting recognition.
Experience in restraint of small and large animals, administering injections, and placement of IV (peripheral, central, and urinary) catheters is essential. Must have knowledge of equipment used within VTH including, but not limited to: personal computer, telephone, copy machine, laser, video endoscope, diagnostic lab equipment, camera/video camera, electrodiagnostic equipment, etc. Must be physically capable of lifting animals weighing 50 pounds or greater onto exam tables and into elevated cages.
Preferred Qualifications- Associate's Veterinary Technology
- Five years experience as a Veterinary Technician Specialist recognized by NAVTA or credentials in a specialty that VTH defines as meriting recognition. Ability to perform assigned tasks independently with minimal supervision.

Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT). Veterinary Technician Specialist (VTS).
