About This Position
We are seeking a dedicated professional to lead HVAC/EO operations, collaborating with Facilities Management zone managers and skilled trades staff to maintain high‑quality maintenance, efficient resource use, and safe building systems. The role includes hands‑on supervision, coordination, and team development to support students, faculty, and staff.
Responsibilities- Maintain awareness of maintenance workload and resources, making maintenance decisions.
- Oversee employee performance, information gathering, diagnosis, equipment inventory, labeling, and scheduling for preventive, predictive, planned, corrective, and reactive maintenance programs.
- Supervise all phases of HVAC/EO general, aesthetic, corrective, reactive, planned, and preventive maintenance.
- Schedule tasks, assign technicians, and replace filters, belts, lights, intake screens, seals, lubrication, preservation, and service equipment.
- Supervise emergency generator testing, small boiler and pressure vessel inspections, and maintenance.
- Provide safety instruction, inspect tools and equipment, and perform quality control of completed work.
- Work shift as required, including evenings, weekends, and during state closures; overtime is essential.
- Maintain a personal cell phone and be available during and after normal working hours.
- Perform snow and ice removal tasks and respond at any time of day or night as scheduled by management.
- High School/GED (degree conferred before or at start date).
- Six years of work experience related to duties, with at least five years in a field specific to the position, or an alternate path: two years post‑secondary education in building trades or technical field with four years work experience.
- Valid driver’s license; maintain throughout employment.
- Mechanical Contractor License.
- Refrigeration Handlers Certificate before hire.
- Strong team‑building skills and customer service orientation with ability to solve problems and communicate effectively.
- Basic computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite and comfort with CMMS software (AiM).
- Knowledge of building codes and safety standards; ability to estimate costs, assess bids, and manage contractors.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with contractors and departmental representatives.
- Physical ability to stand, lift, bend, stoop, lift above shoulders, and carry at least 50 lb.
- Vocational/Technical education.
- Two years post‑secondary education in the building trades or technical field with six years of prior successful HVAC/EO work experience, including at least one year in a supervisory role.
