About This Position
Facilities Management is seeking a skilled, experienced painter to join our team.
Apply coatings to maintain a consistent, run‑free finish and gloss. Draft paint work scopes and provide time and materials lists. Install signage in interior and exterior locations. Operate scissor lifts, man lifts, and construct or de‑construct scaffolding. Perform minor carpentry including TV wall mount installation, framing modifications, and sheetrock work. Remove and install carpet, LVT, VCT, and vinyl base. Assist with window replacement, ceiling grid modifications, and ceiling tile replacement.
Install insulation in walls and ceilings. Paint interior offices, classrooms, hallways, stairwells, and furnishings. Scrape, sand, prep, and clean all areas to be painted. Spread drop cloths to protect areas from paint. Tape and bed new sheetrock. Patch holes with taping mud, plaster, or spackle. Apply alkyds, acrylics, urethanes, epoxies, lacquers, and stains with brushes, rollers, and spray equipment to walls, ceilings, floors, window sash, doors, and furnishings.
Mix paint and match colours. Load and unload equipment. Overtime or shift work may be required when necessary.
Must use appropriate personal protective equipment as required (hard hat, vest, gloves, safety glasses, etc.). These items are provided and are not for personal use.
Job DetailsWork Schedule:
Monday through Friday, 8:00 am–5:00 pm with occasional evenings and weekends.
Appointment Length:
Regular Continuous/Until Further Notice.
Salary Range: $15.25 – $23.75 per hour (contingent upon available funding).
Required Qualifications- High School/GED (degree must be conferred on or before start date)
- Painter I:
Two years of work experience in the painting trade. - Painter II:
Four years of work experience in the painting trade. - Painter III:
Seven years of work experience in the painting trade. - Painter IV:
Ten years of work experience in the painting trade.
- Valid driver’s license, retained for operation of OSU vehicles.
- Occasional use of respiratory equipment; must pass a medical exam.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently, and occasionally more than 50 pounds.
- Safe work practices, including climbing and working on ladders, scaffolding, or high‑lift equipment.
- Proficiency with the “AIM” Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and mobile technology.
- Vocational/Technical Building Trades or Technical field/Construction background.
