Basic Purpose
Positions in this job family are assigned responsibilities involving the management, from acquisition to disposal, of all supplies and equipment used to support an institution or agency. These responsibilities include procurement, receipt, storage, control, issuance, inventory, delivery of material, equipment, records, agency mail, and other supplies used to support agency business practices.
Typical Functions- Receives, issues, ships and arranges materials, equipment, records, agency mail and other items in proper locations using machinery as needed.
- Provides centralized mail services and/or performs centralized printing functions.
- Inspects items for conformance with specifications.
- Conducts inventories and maintains records, files reports and performs necessary administrative duties.
- Assists requisitioners in preparation of specifications.
- Acts as liaison to the agency purchasing agent/Central Purchasing.
- Supervises and trains subordinate personnel and edits requisitions and purchase orders.
- Confers with department heads, vendors, and outside agencies concerning purchases, deliveries, and acceptability of supplies.
- Coordinates with other units/divisions as needed to clarify policy, procedure and determine status for a wide range of service and support related requests, which may include the acquisition, storage, disbursement and/or disposal of assets and records.
This is the leadership level where employees are assigned responsibility for the supervision of others and for planning, organizing, and managing the procurement, storage, control, issuance, distribution and delivery, and inventory of material used in the operation of an institution or agency. Incumbents may be responsible for directing the overall operations of a warehouse having responsibility for statewide distribution of supplies or other material;
insuring compliance with safety, OSHA standards, training, establishing objectives, and devising plans.
- Knowledge of simple arithmetic, English language, storage methods and procedures, inventory methods and techniques, warehouse practices and techniques, stock handling, operation of warehouse equipment, stock identification methods, acquisition of material, warehousing methods, principles, procedures, expediting techniques, inventory methods, and use of mechanical equipment.
- Ability to write simple reports; follow oral or written instructions; establish and maintain effective working relationships; store and warehouse a variety of supplies; maintain detailed inventory records; maintain accurate warehouse records; provide training and supervision; take accurate inventories; write reports and keep records.
- Skill to operate a forklift.
Four years of experience in stock handling, warehousing, and inventory control; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special RequirementsApplicants must be willing and able to fulfill all job-related travel normally associated with this position. Some positions may require performing moderately heavy lifting or other manual tasks. Some agencies may have determined positions in this job family to be safety sensitive as defined by 63 O.S. § 427.8.
LocationHoward McLeod Correctional Center. This is not a remote position.
