WHO THEY ARE
Clear Risk is a growing SaaS company serving public-sector and enterprise clients across North America with risk and claims management solutions. As we scale, we're looking for a hands‑on product leader who brings deep risk and insurance knowledge and can shape the next generation of our platform.

ROLE OVERVIEW
This role fills a strategic gap on our technical and product leadership team: someone who will own product vision and dive into day‑to‑day product discovery, requirements, workflows, customer insights, and roadmap execution. The Director - Product - Risk & Insurance will serve as the bridge between Clear Risk's customers, business leadership, and engineering team. This person will define the product vision, shape the roadmap, and contribute directly to hands‑on discovery, user flows, requirements, and prioritization—without needing to code.

They'll combine domain expertise (risk, insurance, claims, underwriting, compliance) with SaaS product leadership, ensuring we build solutions that are both technically feasible and deeply aligned with customer needs.

This is an ideal role for a senior product leader who can operate at two altitudes:

Strategic: setting vision, understanding market direction, building the product strategy.

Hands‑on: writing requirements, evaluating user flows, participating in sprint reviews, engaging with customers, and partnering closely with engineering.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Product Vision & Strategy

Define and own Clear Risk's long‑term product vision for risk, insurance, and claims management solutions.

Translate market trends, regulatory developments, and customer needs into actionable product direction.

Identify opportunities for innovation aligned with Clear Risk's growth goals.

Hands‑On Product Management

Lead product discovery: develop user stories, use cases, workflows, and functional requirements.

Engage directly with customers, users, industry SMEs, and internal teams to validate problems and shape solutions.

Work closely with engineering (without needing to code) to clarify requirements, prioritize work, and ensure quality execution.

Support design efforts: wireframes, process flows, and solution mapping with UX/Design resources.

Roadmap Ownership & Execution

Build, prioritize, and manage the product roadmap across short‑term deliverables and long‑term market differentiation.

Balance competing demands across customer requests, strategic initiatives, technical dependencies, and internal goals.

Lead sprint planning, backlog refinement, and cross‑functional alignment.

Domain Expertise – Risk & Insurance

Serve as the internal subject matter expert on risk, insurance, claims, underwriting workflows, loss data, and regulatory context.

Ensure that product features accurately reflect real‑world domain requirements and industry best practices.

Guide data model considerations and logic validation from a domain standpoint (no coding expected).

Cross‑Functional Leadership

Collaborate with Engineering, Sales, Customer Success, and Operations to align product roadmap with business needs.

Support Sales and Marketing with product positioning, messaging, and GTM strategy.

Provide leadership and mentorship for future product hires as the team grows.

Customer & Market Understanding

Conduct ongoing market research to stay ahead of trends in insurance technology, risk management, compliance, and public‑sector needs.

Use customer data, usage insights, and feedback loops to drive product decisions.

QUALIFICATIONS

8–12+ years in the insurance, risk management, claims, underwriting, or related fields.

5–8+ years in SaaS product management or product leadership roles.

Experience in a growth‑stage or scaling SaaS environment strongly preferred.

Has led product strategy and delivered enterprise or complex workflow products.

No development/coding background required but must have technical fluency and be able to engage deeply with engineering.
