Location: St. John's

We are currently searching for a  Heavy Equipment Mechanic  at our St. John’sTerminal. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, he/she is responsible to provide maintenance to ground equipment which requires preventative maintenance, troubleshooting repairs and/or modifications.
Tasks and responsibilities   Repairs, modifies and performs preventative maintenance inspections; troubleshoots fleet and ground support equipment;
Checks equipment for proper performance andinspects equipment to detect faults and malfunctions;
Diagnoses source of trouble, disassemblesequipment and performs necessary adjustments and repairs to ensure fleet and equipment are maintained in a safe, reliable and cost effective manner;
Prepares parts and supplies list for the Clerkto order as required to repair equipment;
Assumes primary responsibility for completion ofproject work and reliability of work performed (goods for parts);
Adjusts equipment and repairs or replacesdefective parts, components or systems, using hand and power tools. Maintains aclean and safe work area and is responsible for shop equipment in accordance withlocal laws and corporate standards;
Tests repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets operations' specifications. Cleans, lubricatesand performs other routine maintenance work on equipment;
Performs field work and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications   Completion of a 3–5-year apprenticeship program;
Applicable licences or vocational training;
3 to 5 years of experience in vehicle maintenance.
Skills   Working knowledge of the utilization and operation of all automotive equipment and testing equipment, gauges and toolsnormally associated with the troubleshooting and repair of gasoline, diesel andpropane automotive equipment;
Possession of a complete set of hand tools including metric sizes;
Ability to work under minimum supervision for extended periods of time;
Lift and makeover heavy vehicle components up to50 lbs.
