American Traveler is seeking an experienced travel RN for a Telemetry unit position requiring prior travel experience, continuous IV medication management, and a GA or compact RN license.
Requirements- Active GA or compact RN license required at time of consideration
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 1 year of telemetry RN experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Demonstrated experience managing continuous IV medications (cardiac drips, diuretics, anticoagulants, and insulin drips) required
- Basic arrhythmia knowledge required
- Epic experience preferred
- Hospital telemetry unit setting with 32 beds
- Adult to geriatric patient population
- Patient ratio of 1:5-6
- Cases include cardiac (CHF, chest pain, post cardiac cath, arrhythmias including stable A-Fib, SVT, and bradycardia), renal, pulmonary (COPD, pulmonary edema, PE, DVT), surgical (cholecystectomy, appendectomy, chest tubes, biliary drains), DKA, vascular, and occasional ortho or CVA overflow
- Experience with continuous IV cardiac drips required:
Amiodarone, Cardizem, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Milrinone, Nitroglycerin, Bumex, Lasix, Aggrastat, Argatroban, Heparin, and insulin drips - Arrhythmia management and cardioversion required
- Unit operates as overflow IMCU as needed
- EMR:
Epic (preferred), Pyxis, SBAR - Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:00
- Weekend rotation typically every other weekend; permanent staff are scheduled first and travelers fill gaps as needed
- Floating within the facility and scope of practice as needed
- On-call is rare with a 2-hour response time required
- 14-week contract
- First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
- Navy blue scrubs required
- RTO maximum of 7 days per contract; RTO cannot be requested during the first week of the assignment
- Holiday coverage policy: if one or two major holidays fall within the assignment period, travelers are expected to work all of them with no holiday RTO allowed; if three major holidays fall within the assignment period, travelers are expected to work two, with one holiday RTO request eligible for review
- Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday (counts as one), Christmas Eve/Christmas Day (counts as one), and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day (counts as one)
- Travelers who have previously worked at any Piedmont facility must have been away for at least one full year before returning as a traveler
- No scheduling requests or alternate shift arrangements are permitted; the posted night shift is firm
- Two supervisory references (manager level or above; charge nurses not accepted) are highly preferred
- Local candidates are accepted for this position
- Full compliance is required prior to the start date; non-compliance may result in a two-week delay due to the bi-weekly orientation schedule
