Must-Have:
Prior travel experience and experience managing continuous intravenous medications is required. Experience with cardiac drips including Amiodarone, Cardizem, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Milrinone, Nitroglycerin is mandatory. Experience with diuretics such as Bumex and Lasix is necessary. Knowledge of anticoagulants including Aggrastat, Argatroban, Heparin required. Familiarity with insulin drips is essential.
Description:
This position requires experience in managing various cardiac drips. The patient population includes adults to geriatrics. General skills required include overflow Intermediate Care Unit responsibilities, arrhythmia management, and cardioversion. The nurse will manage patients with conditions such as congestive heart failure, chest pain, renal issues, and pulmonary complications. Knowledge in handling venous thromboembolism and cardiac arrhythmias is needed. The role may also involve care for surgical patients and individuals post cardiac catheterization.
Basic arrhythmia knowledge and familiarity with hemodynamic monitoring are also essential. The staffing ratio is approximately 1 nurse to 5-6 patients. The nurse may float to similar units as required. Weekend coverage typically follows an every other weekend schedule. Holiday work may be expected during assigned major holidays. Full compliance with onboarding requirements is necessary for timely start. All required competencies and knowledge of telemetry systems is vital.
The nurse must adhere to the policies set forth by the organization for travel staff.
