American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiac Telemetry position requiring prior travel experience and skill managing continuous IV drips.
Details- Work in a 32-bed Cardiac Telemetry unit, occasionally overflowing to IMCU
- Care for adult to geriatric patients with conditions including CHF, chest pain, arrhythmias (stable A-fib, SVT, bradycardia), renal and pulmonary issues (COPD, pulmonary edema, PE, DVT)
- Manage post cardiac cath patients including TR bands, as well as occasional surgical, vascular, ortho, or CVA overflow patients
- Maintain a patient ratio of 1:5-6
- Uses Epic (preferred), Pyxis, and SBAR communication systems
- Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM-7:00 AM
- Typically scheduled every other weekend, with permanent staff prioritized for scheduling
- Floating required within facility and scope of practice as needed
- Call requirements are rare, with a 2-hour response time; travelers are not assigned Precedex management
- Active RN license (GA or Compact) required at time of submission
- Current certifications: BLS and ACLS (NIHSS preferred)
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Experience managing continuous IV medications including cardiac drips (Amiodarone, Cardizem, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Milrinone, Nitroglycerin), diuretics (Bumex, Lasix), anticoagulants (Aggrastat, Argatroban, Heparin), and insulin drips
- Skilled in arrhythmia interpretation and management, cardioversion, and use of rapid response/code teams
- Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, and starting/maintaining IVs
- Preferred skills include PICC line management, port access/management, blood product administration, BiPAP/CPAP and high flow nasal cannula management, and feeding tube care
- Preferred prior charge experience
- Epic charting system experience preferred
- Deliver cardiac telemetry nursing care with a focus on arrhythmia monitoring, cardiac drip management, and post cardiac cath recovery
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract, with all requests finalized at time of submission
- No RTO permitted during orientation week
- Holiday coverage required: if 1-2 major holidays fall during the assignment, no holiday RTO can be requested; if 3 major holidays fall during the assignment, one holiday RTO request may be considered
- Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, and New Year's Eve/Day
- Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate
- Former Piedmont employees (perm, per diem, or FCSS) must be away from all Piedmont facilities for one full year before applying as a traveler
- Returning travelers who were previously cancelled or given a DNR by the facility must complete one assignment outside Piedmont before reapplying
- First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
- Full compliance required to start on time; non-compliance may result in a two-week delay due to biweekly orientation scheduling
