American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiac Telemetry position requiring prior travel nursing experience and hands-on management of cardiac drips.
Details- Cardiac Telemetry/Overflow IMCU unit within a hospital setting
- Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 AM-7:00 PM)
- Patient population ranges from adults to geriatrics
- Typical patient ratio of 1:5-6 on a 32-bed unit
- Cares for patients with arrhythmia management needs, cardioversion, CHF, chest pain, renal and pulmonary conditions (COPD, pulmonary edema, PE, DVT), stable A-Fib, SVT, and bradycardia
- Occasional surgical overflow patients (cholecystectomy, appendectomy, chest tubes, biliary drains), vascular, post cardiac cath, DKA, and occasional ortho/CVA overflow
- Utilizes Epic (preferred), Pyxis, and SBAR communication
- Every other weekend shift work typical, with travelers filling gaps after core staff scheduling
- Floating required within facility and scope of practice as needed
- Call requirements are rare with a 2-hour response time; travelers do not manage Precedex drips
- Active RN license (GA or Compact) required at time of consideration
- Current BLS and ACLS certification required; NIHSS preferred
- Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Experience managing continuous IV medications required, including cardiac drips (Amiodarone, Cardizem, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Milrinone, Nitroglycerin), diuretics (Bumex, Lasix), anticoagulants (Aggrastat, Argatroban, Heparin), and insulin drips
- TR Band experience required
- Broad Med-Surg skill set required, including basic arrhythmia knowledge
- Epic charting experience preferred
- Two supervisory professional references (Manager level or above) highly preferred at time of consideration
- Manage cardiac drips without titration responsibility per unit protocol
- Provide arrhythmia interpretation and dysrhythmia management, utilizing Rapid Response/Code teams as needed
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Maximum of 7 days RTO per contract, and all RTO must be finalized at time of consideration
- No RTO can be requested during orientation week
- Holiday coverage required: if one or two major holidays fall within the assignment, both must be worked; if three major holidays occur, at least two must be worked with one holiday RTO request possibly considered
- Local candidates accepted at the same rate
- First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
- Previous Piedmont Health perm, per diem, or FCSS staff must be separated from all Piedmont facilities for one full year before applying as a traveler
- Returning travelers who were previously cancelled or given a facility DNR must complete one successful assignment outside of Piedmont before reapplying
