Level 3 Nursery Apprenticeship

Must already hold a Level 2 qualification and be working towards Level 3

• Monday to Friday, between 7.30am and 6.00pm (final hours agreed at interview)
• Total hours per week: 43.75
• Expected duration: 12 months
• Apprenticeship level: Level 3

This is an active, hands‑on role supporting children’s learning, development, and daily care within a warm and nurturing environment.

• Provide a high standard of physical, emotional, social and intellectual care.
• Contribute to a stimulating environment with rich indoor and outdoor experiences.
• Support planning for the EYFS and keep daily plans up to date.
• Maintain accurate children’s records and developmental tracking.
• Build strong partnerships with parents and family members.
• Support an effective induction for new children and families.
• Promote inclusive practice and support children with additional needs.
• Follow child protection procedures and help keep children safe.
• Support nutritional needs and comply with Food Safety regulations.
• Follow key person procedures, building meaningful relationships.
• Prepare children for smooth transitions between rooms.
• Encourage outdoor learning and ensure regular access to fresh air.
• Keep up to date with current childcare practice.
• Implement activities that help close gaps in learning.

• Share responsibility for safety, hygiene and cleanliness across the nursery.
• Ensure children are kept clean and comfortable throughout the day.
• Follow Health & Safety policies, manage risks and report concerns promptly.
• Be aware of emergency and security procedures (including fire and collection).
• Maintain the highest hygiene standards, especially around nappies, bedding and food areas.
• Support the upkeep of buildings, resources and equipment.

• Promote the nursery to current and prospective parents.
• Support leaders during regulatory inspections and help implement improvements.
• Reflect on your practice and engage in ongoing self‑development.

• Support assistants and students in their daily duties.
• Ensure new staff feel welcomed and receive a meaningful induction.
• Be a positive role model and inspire good practice.
• Support team recruitment, training and development.
• Manage time effectively and prioritise tasks.
• Help create a motivated, inclusive staff team.

• Support parents professionally and seek help from senior staff when required.
• Adhere to all nursery policies and procedures.
• Undertake extra training and qualifications as needed.
• Take part in out‑of‑hours activities (parents’ meetings, open days, festive events, staff meetings).
• Assist with snack preparation, cleaning duties and day‑to‑day domestic tasks.
• Engage fully in supervisions and appraisals, working towards agreed targets.
• Work collaboratively as part of a team.
• Support the nursery as a whole and take responsibility for developing your own skills.

• GCSE Grade C/4 or above in English and Maths (or equivalent)

• A full‑time role may be offered upon successful completion of the apprenticeship.

• Manual handling is required throughout the day.
• Cleaning duties are shared to maintain high standards.
• Outdoor learning forms a daily part of practice.
• This is a physically active role.
• Apprenticeship level (Level 2 or Level
  3) will depend on qualifications.
