Some Saturdays may be required during peak season (September–January).
Position SummaryWe are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Health and Safety Clerk to support workplace safety initiatives, workers' compensation administration, OSHA compliance efforts, and departmental administrative functions. This role requires strong communication skills, the ability to work independently, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and compliant work environment.
Duties & Responsibilities- Transport injured employees to and from medical treatment using a company vehicle.
- Communicate workers' compensation claim-related activities to supervisors, site administrators, and employees.
- Review workers' compensation claims for accuracy and enter information into the claim administrator's software system.
- Assist with Cal/OSHA and Federal OSHA compliance activities.
- Prepare and maintain OSHA 300 logs and other required safety documentation.
- Conduct new hire safety orientations and onboarding support.
- Coordinate monthly plant safety training sessions.
- Participate in incident investigations and assist with follow-up corrective action.
- Observe and support employees participating in the Return-to-Work Program.
- Collect and document storm water samples with assistance.
- Maintain safety bulletin boards, safety communications, and workplace postings.
- Order safety equipment, office supplies, and other department materials as needed.
- Create, organize, maintain, and retain departmental records and files.
- Prepare meeting agendas, reports, presentations, and related materials.
- Attend meetings, seminars, and training sessions to gather information and provide administrative support.
- Answer phones, relay information, and communicate professionally with employees, vendors, and management.
- Assist the department head with administrative projects and special assignments.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Minimum of five years of experience performing complex administrative or clerical duties.
- At least two years of supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of general office procedures and administrative practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Experience working with workers' compensation claims, safety programs, or compliance-related functions preferred.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information professionally.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Personable with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Valid California Class C Driver's Licence.
- Ability to drive a company vehicle as needed.
- First Aid, CPR, and AED Certification.
- Experience with OSHA compliance and workplace safety programs.
- Experience conducting employee orientations and safety training.
- Knowledge of workers' compensation administration and return-to-work programs.
