Overview
Head Start/Early Head Start Center Manager position located in Stockton, CA. Full-time, 4-year degree recommended; salary range $26.15 - $29.39 hourly. Under supervision of the ECE Assistant Director, the Center Manager will implement and oversee all components of a quality preschool or infant/toddler program, contribute to the teaching team’s success, and maintain compliance with licensing and funding regulations.
ResponsibilitiesGeneral
- Represent the agency in a consistently professional manner, modeling the agency’s vision, mission, and values.
- Promote teamwork among Early Education Services, CAPC staff, volunteers, Board members, and other stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain relationships to support the agency’s vision, mission, and values.
- Work effectively with diverse staff, parents, children, and community members.
- Maintain compliance and knowledge of CAPC Policies, funding and regulatory rules, and applicable laws.
- Conduct and document regular check-ins with staff to provide support and address opportunities in a timely manner.
- Provide opportunities for staff training and development related to their roles.
- Model strengths-based services and a collaborative, positive work environment.
- Identify gaps and needs at assigned sites and coordinate with the Director to implement solutions.
Program-Specific
- Program provides for the safety, health, and nutrition of children.
- Ensure teaching staff provide a safe environment according to Cal OSHA Guidelines (SB198), Licensing 22, Title 5 Regulations, and Head Start Performance Standards.
- Keep accurate and updated emergency information, medication, allergies, and treatment authorizations for all children.
- Ensure teaching staff complete required health and safety trainings and renew applicable certifications by due dates.
- Implement and ensure the center’s plan for medical and disaster-related emergencies is carried out per SB198 guidelines.
- Review site and classroom supervision plans, including staff responsibilities and zoning maps.
- Monitor healthy practices in the classroom (universal health, timely diapering/clothing changes, and authorized medication dispensation).
- Attend meetings, review health reports, input health information into Child Plus, communicate with parents, and ensure health requirements are compliant with Head Start standards.
- Monitor food service support for meals and snacks according to CACFP policies.
- Ensure nutrition documentation for children under 12 months is completed timely.
- Communicate all family updates to Early Education Program Manager, Teacher, and Associate Teacher.
Program provides early education experiences and learning opportunities
- Oversee quality lesson plans using the Creative Curriculum to meet the needs of each child.
- Monitor documentation of children’s growth, developmental screenings/assessments, and timely submission of paperwork.
- Monitor individualization and education plans for developmental goals and activities for each child, including children with disabilities.
- Assist teaching team in balancing child- and adult-directed activities and varying group experiences.
- Monitor integration of program funding goals into the lesson plan curriculum.
- Ensure a curriculum that supports acceptance and respect of gender, culture, language, ethnicity, and family composition.
Program provides an interesting and varied physical environment
- Ensure well-organized interest areas (blocks, dramatic play, art, library, etc.).
- Use Environmental Rating Scale to measure classroom quality.
- Provide outdoor curriculum that extends the indoor classroom to outdoor settings.
- Foster an environment that respects gender, culture, language, ethnicity, and family composition.
Program promotes social and emotional growth
- Build positive relationships with children using quality interactions described in the CLASS tool.
- Promote program-wide expectations for behavior (We are Safe, We are Respectful, We are Friendly).
C. Administrative and Supervisory Responsibilities
- Establish consistent daily schedules, routines, and transitions to maintain educational flow.
