Description

Under the general supervision of the Division Dean of Health &Fitness TrAC, the Adjunct Associate Professor of Coaching
-Athletics, teaches organized classes primarily in the athleticsdiscipline(s); the primary responsibility is to teach up to 10units (part-time) in the assigned discipline.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Instruct courses in athletics in accordance with credit courseoutlines approved by the Board of Trustees.
  • Act as an assistant coach to assigned sport.
  • Assist head coach with sport related coaching duties including on field coaching assignment, recruiting, scouting, fundraising andpublic relations.
  • Recommend equipment purchase and care.
  • Maintain expertise in current teaching methods, disciplineknowledge, and discipline specific technologies.
  • Assist students in achieving stated course objectives. Evaluate the progress of each student and notify students in need of counseling services and/or tutorial assistance. Track student learning outcomes and maintain records of student learning outcomes.
  • Participate in the departmental process of curriculum review,modification, and the assessment of student learning outcomes inorder to make the program successful.
  • Support the Division Dean in cooperating with campus and community groups to provide programs, courses, and informationrelevant to the needs of the students and various programs.
  • Coordinate with other faculty in the selection of textbooks,audiovisual and other instructional materials.
  • Complete various reporting procedures as required for studentevaluation, course reporting and budget development.
  • Assist the Division Dean in the preparation of required reportsby providing requested information.
  • Attend various departmental, divisional and campus-wideactivities and events as required.
  • Plan and complete approved professional development flexactivities each semester.
  • Perform other necessary duties as assigned by the Division Dean andas outlined in Board Policy.

    Qualifications

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Any bachelor’s degree and two years of professional experience,or any associate degree and six years of professional experience.
    • Sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic,socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
    DESIRABLE

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Experience instructing online classes.
    • Desire and ability to outreach to local high schools,universities and the community.
    • Demonstrated ability to adapt teaching strategies and techniques to different levels of students' ability and learning styles.
    • Demonstrated ability to adapt teaching strategies and techniques to students from different cultures and ethnicgroups.
    • Demonstrated ability to use innovative and creative teaching techniques and equipment, including the use of multimedia hardware and software and online instructional techniques.
    • Demonstrated collegiality within campus and communityenvironment.
    • Demonstrated leadership, ability, and desire to stay current inthe field.
    • Experience in teaching postsecondary courses in athletics.
    • Demonstrated expertise in coaching and teaching.
    • Possess Heart Association or Red Cross Certificates in First Aid and CPR, or obtain by the completion of the first year of employment.
    • Demonstrated Secondary and/or Postsecondary coaching experience.
    • Demonstrated exemplary teaching practices in coaching, physical education and health education.
    • Demonstrated Postsecondary teaching experience.
    • Demonstrated ability to coach / teach a variety of sports.
    • Demonstrated leadership in developing curriculum for discipline specific courses and/or programs.
    • Demonstrated leadership, ability, and desire to stay current inthe field.
    • Demonstrated leadership and ability to work with business and industry in order to coordinate the educational program with theneeds of the community.
    Supplemental Information

    Applicants in this pool will remain active for one year. Afterone year, applicants will receive an email with information on howto remain in the pool.
