Position Summary
The Administrative Coordinator, UOP Reach for the Stars STEM Academy, is responsible for managing a wide range of administrative tasks for the summer 2026 academy on the Stockton United States campus. Under the direct supervision of the School of Engineering Assistant Dean for Student Success, the Coordinator facilitates all logistical aspects, including planning, budgeting, procurement, scheduling, and communication with parents, teachers, and external partners.

Academy overview:
The STEM academies are academically intense, mathematics‑based summer enrichment programs designed for students who lack access to resources that would enable them to accelerate their learning and move into college preparatory coursework in high school.
Academic goals:
Develop and enhance skills in abstract & critical reasoning, problem solving, interpretation, connecting concepts, study techniques, technological skills, and essential skills for college and career success.
Life goals:
Help students develop purpose through leadership skills, self‑esteem, and real‑life problem solving that impacts life, work, health, and well‑being. Students are encouraged to consider STEM careers and pursue STEM fields as college majors.
Student profile:
Recruitment starts while students are current 6th graders; students in grades 7‑12 participate. Once enrolled, students continue their summer participation through the 12th grade year.
Program design:
Throughout six summers the program introduces progressively challenging STEM concepts at each returning grade level, with a college‑level curriculum delivered through project‑based learning, field trips, and skill assessments.
- Support the Tomorrow Project Administrator with all pre‑opening administrative functions.
- Collect and manage academy data.
- Maintain up‑to‑date records of equipment, materials, maintenance, and supplies.
- Coordinate logistics for classroom supplies, field trips, lunch and snack orders.
- Maintain an up‑to‑date reconciled operating budget, excluding personnel costs.
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee events such as parent training and community outreach.
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with students and staff.
- Provide administrative assistance to team members, including training on new systems and procedures.
- Assist with program marketing and outreach.
- Serve as a first‑stop source of assistance to parents, site administrators, teachers, visitors, and public entities for academy information.
- Oversee budgeting and accounting record keeping for the academy.
- Assist with project planning, tracking progress, and ensuring deadlines are met.
- Maintain records, prepare forms, verify information, and resolve issues requiring knowledge of university and academy processes.
- Manage the academy activity calendar and schedule meetings, field trips, and events.
- Provide ad‑hoc reports as requested.
- Interview, supervise, and train teaching assistants, volunteers, and/or work‑study students.
- Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
- Bachelor’s Degree and a valid multiple‑subject credential, or a single‑subject mathematics or science credential, or STEM certification.
- Ten (10) years of direct teaching experience in a public middle and/or high school setting.
- Five (5) years of coordinator or project‑management experience in a public middle and/or high school setting.
- Demonstrated ability to work successfully with diverse students and colleagues in various settings.
- Skill in engaging and integrating culturally responsive practices and knowledge into the learning environment.
- Commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion in professional practice.
- Spanish speaking or proficient communication in Spanish.
- Experience with STEM‑related educational tools such as 3D printing, autocad, laser cutting, vinyl cutting, Arduino, Makey‑Makey, Codecademy, Sphero, Tynker, Bee Bot, Parrot Mini Drone.
