Adjunct Associate Professor in Health and Fitness
San Joaquin Delta Community College District is seeking an Adjunct Associate Professor in Health and Fitness. The ideal candidate will share in the college's commitment to educating a racially and socioeconomically diverse student population.
San Joaquin Delta College is a proud Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI) and Minority Serving Institution (MSI) servicing over 20,000 students in the California Central Valley. The student population is as follows: by ethnicity, 47% Latinx, 18.5% White, 18.4% Asian/Filipino/Pacific Islander, 8.8% Black/African American, 0.4% American Indian, 5.7% two or more races and 1.2% unknown; 54.6% female, 43.6% male, 1.8% unspecified; and by age, 28.9% ages 17 or younger, 49.7% ages 18-21, 19.6% ages 22-34, and 7.2% ages 35 and older.

Under the general supervision of the Division Dean the Adjunct Associate Professor of Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) teaches organized classes primarily in the Health Sciences discipline(s); the primary responsibility is to teach up to 10 units (part-time) in the assigned discipline. The successful candidate will provide evidence of knowledge and understanding of the racial, socioeconomic, and academic diversity within community college populations, and how these factors relate to the need for equity-minded and culturally responsive practices in the community college setting.
Duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Applicant must be able to meet the minimum educational qualifications set forth by the District and the California Community Colleges Chancellor's Office.
- Bachelor's degree with two years of professional experience or Associate's degree with six years of professional experience.
DESIRABLE
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) current License
- Two (2) years of nursing experience (either RN or LVN)
- One (1) years of verifiable experience as a licensed nurse (RN or LVN) providing care to chronically ill or elderly patients in an acute care hospital, skilled nursing facility, intermediate care home, home care, hospice care or other long term care settings.
- Completion of course(s) in teaching adults OR 1 year of verifiable experience in teaching adults OR 1 year of verifiable experience supervising nurse aides
- Meet the CA Board of Registered Nursing requirements
- Experience in teaching postsecondary courses in Health Sciences, Nursing Assistant Program, or RN program
