Under the direction of a Senior Transportation Engineer, the incumbent will:
- Conduct field work to gather hydraulic data and roadway and cross‑drainage design.
- Review encroachment permits, Inter‑Governmental Review / California Environmental Quality Act (IGR/CEQA) and local development plans.
- Design embankment and bridge protection, perform floodplain analysis and hydrology development.
- Prepare Central Valley Flood Protection Board (CVFPB) approval applications.
- Make engineering decisions to solve hydrologic and hydraulic engineering problems and develop practical solutions.
Must have the experience to perform the duties described or the capability to quickly learn them.
Special Requirements- Appointment to Range D requires a valid Professional Engineering License (Civil) issued by the California Board of Registration for Professional Engineers.
Minimum Qualifications
Eligibility may be determined by score on the Transportation Engineer (Civil) exam. Candidates must meet the Minimum Qualifications listed in the Classification Specification and, for those under Pattern II requiring the TE Civil written hurdle exam, must complete the in‑person written hurdle. All applicants must be on the state examination list to be eligible. The Minimum Qualifications include required education, experience, and skills for the position.
