• Lead and supervise engineers and professional staff in UEW.
• Plan and coordinate UEW functions, including utility database maintenance and production of engineering products for utility certifications.
• Develop utility plans, reports, specifications, special provisions, and cost estimates.
• Ensure all deliverables meet technical standards, regulatory requirements, schedule, and budget.
• Oversee workload prioritization and quality assurance through QA/QC processes.
• Coach, mentor, and manage staff performance to foster a collaborative and equitable work environment.
• Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, including utility companies, local agencies, consultants, and other Caltrans units.

• Valid Professional Engineer (PE) License issued by the California Board of Registration for Professional Engineers.
• Valid driver’s license when operating a state-owned or leased vehicle; occasional travel may be required.
• Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) required; must be no more than two pages, 12-point Arial font.

Eligibility for hire is determined by score on the Senior Transportation Engineer exam. Possession of minimum qualifications will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment. Candidates must submit an unofficial or official transcript; foreign degree equivalency evaluations may be required. Applicants must redact birthdates and social security numbers.
