The City of Stockton Municipal Utilities Department is seeking a qualified and motivated Assistant Engineer to join our team. In this role, you'll have the opportunity to perform a variety of professional engineering duties related to the planning, design, and construction of public works and utility infrastructure projects.
Under the general supervision of a Senior or Associate Civil Engineer, the Assistant Engineer will be responsible for a variety of engineering assignments associated with the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of municipal utility facilities and public works projects.
The ideal candidate will possess knowledge and experience related to:
- Distribution and treatment of drinking water
- Collection and treatment of sanitary sewer systems
- Collection and conveyance of stormwater systems
- Engineering design and construction management practices
- Public infrastructure planning and development
Knowledge of sewer pump stations, water treatment plants, and wastewater treatment plant processes is highly desirable.
What You'll Do:
- Assist with planning, design, and construction of utility and public works projects
- Prepare engineering studies, reports, plans, specifications, and cost estimates
- Review engineering calculations and technical documents
- Coordinate with consultants, contractors, regulatory agencies, and City staff
- Conduct field inspections and evaluate project progress
- Support the delivery of critical water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure improvements
We offer a flexible 9/80 work schedule consisting of nine-hour workdays Monday through Thursday, and eight hours every other Friday, with alternating Fridays off. Work hours may be adjusted with supervisory approval. A typical schedule may include Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Fridays from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
