Position: Operations/ Farm Project Manager

The Farm Manager is responsible for managing assigned regional farms. This role achieves results through teams and partnerships with leadership, delivering crop yield and quality targets while managing production and operational costs.

Key Responsibilities and Expectations

Farm/Asset Management

Manage a portfolio of agricultural properties within a specific region. Collaborate with on-site managers to evaluate performance, improve operations, develop operating budgets, monitor efficiencies, manage costs, increase yields, and achieve financial objectives.

Communication & Engagement

Serve as the primary representative with tenants, property managers, contractors, consultants, and stakeholders. Prepare and present farm and crop updates on a regular basis and provide written operational reports as required.

Operational Assistance

Provide recommendations and analysis for capital improvement projects including budgeting, organic transitions, regenerative agriculture initiatives, bid solicitation, schedule coordination, and project oversight.

Property & Facilities Maintenance

Manage staff, vendors, and contractors responsible for maintaining agricultural properties and infrastructure, including buildings, irrigation systems, pipelines, drainage systems, and perimeter fencing. Ensure facilities are safe, well maintained, and compliant with applicable regulations.

Farming Practices

Oversee farming activities and collaborate with tenants and management teams on crop development, soil health, land preparation, irrigation, water management, and crop production.

Support the development and implementation of annual operating budgets, capital expenditure plans, crop development projects, and revenue forecasts. Manage resources effectively while controlling costs.

Monitoring Operations

Conduct regular farm visits to monitor operations and review expenses with internal and external management teams. Review and approve operational invoices as needed.

Crop Planning

Work with management and sales teams to develop seasonal and long-term crop plans that promote sustainable agricultural practices and strong financial performance.

Irrigation and Water Rights

Oversee irrigation activities to ensure efficient and timely water delivery. Maintain accurate irrigation records. Partner with resource management personnel to support water rights compliance, documentation, and reporting requirements.

Maintain accurate records of crop production, field activities, irrigation, fertilizer applications, and chemical applications using agricultural management software. Track yield and cost metrics and provide timely production information to accounting and management teams.

Lease & Tenant Management

Recruit tenants as needed, serve as the primary contact for tenant relationships, and assist with lease preparation and administration.

Regulatory Compliance

Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations governing agricultural operations, including environmental requirements, food safety standards, water use regulations, labor laws, and organic certification requirements.

Acquisitions and Opportunities

Assist with due diligence activities for potential agricultural property acquisitions, including evaluation of site suitability, water resources, soil conditions, crop health, and market opportunities.

Other Duties

Perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Proven experience managing and leading employees.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Understanding of crop production and agricultural practices.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Science, Agricultural Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.

Pest Control Advisor (PCA), Certified Crop Advisor (CCA), or Qualified Applicator License (QAL) preferred.
