Accounting Manager

At Applied Aerospace, we design, fabricate, and test mission‑critical aerospace components for leading innovators such as SpaceX, NASA, Northrop Grumman, and Boeing.

The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the monthly close, financial reporting, and cost accounting in a manufacturing environment. This role ensures accurate financial statements, optimizes cost efficiency, and supports strategic decision‑making. The Accounting Manager collaborates closely with the Controller, operations, and executive leadership to maintain financial integrity and improve processes. • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, tax laws, and internal controls.
• Oversee financial audits, liaising with external auditors and regulatory agencies.
• Maintain accurate general ledger accounts and ensure timely reconciliations.

• Oversee Cost Accounting team, managing and analyzing cost structures, variances, and profitability to support pricing and cost‑reduction strategies as needed.
• Oversee inventory valuation and physical inventory audits.
• Collaborate with production teams to track and optimize material, labor, and overhead costs as needed.

• Identify and implement efficiencies in accounting processes and financial systems.
• Ensure adherence to internal controls and financial policies to mitigate risks.
• Support ERP system implementation and continuous improvement of accounting software.

• Supervise and mentor accounting staff, including accounts payable, receivable, and cost accountants.
• Provide training, performance evaluations, and career development support for the team.
• Foster collaboration between finance, operations, and supply chain teams to align financial goals with business strategies.

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or CMA preferred).
• 5+ years of accounting experience preferably a portion with a Big 4 Accounting firm.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Prior experience in a leadership or managerial role.

• Strong knowledge of GAAP, cost accounting principles, and financial analysis.
• Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Visibility, or similar).
• Strong skills in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.
• Experience with inventory management, standard costing, and variance analysis.

• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Ability to work cross‑functionally with operations, supply chain, and senior management.
• High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines.

• Onsite‑based role.
• May require extended hours during closing periods or audits.

• Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or an MBA.
• Experience in process improvement initiatives.
• Familiarity with SOX compliance.
