Position: Direct Support Specialist - Stockton and Surrounding areas (Part Time)
Pay Range: $17.50-$19.50

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
  • Advance client's decision-making, productivity and participation in a range of daily activities. Facilitate the client's inclusion in positive community experiences.
  • Promote independence in daily activities yet be mindful of client's intellectual and physical disabilities and assist with, meals, cooking, household maintenance, grooming and dressing, as assigned. Maintain current knowledge of client's needs.
  • Implement behavior management plans and individual training and support programs under the direction of the case responsible person.
  • Maintain positive communications and relationships with his/her supervisor, clients, landlords, employers, involved members of families, Regional Center, D.O.R. and other individuals in the community.
  • Participate in the evaluation of the client through completion of task analysis and other requested assessment devices.
  • Provide critical resources, crisis intervention, and support to individuals in crisis.
  • Assess individuals in crisis to determine their needs. Follow all mandated reporting laws and obtaining help in emergency situations.
  • Communicate, both orally and in written form, with other members of a team to improve program efficiency or overall crisis intervention success
  • Document required activity records, reports, incidents, and client evaluations in a timely, complete, and accurate manner as required.
  • Provide positive advocacy when the individual's preferences, needs, or talents are neglected or overlooked.
  • Address challenging behaviors proactively and respectfully, using methods outlined in plans and training.
  • Oversee client activities and environment throughout shift to ensure the fulfillment of health and safety needs. Provides direct service as needed and required.
  • Maintain crisis prevention certification and apply principles as required.
  • Provide specialized transportation services to individuals through the TRIPS program.
  • Transport clients to appointments, community activities, or other locations as needed, ensuring safety and timeliness during travel.
  • Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • 18 years of age or older.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Aptitude for confidentiality, organizational skills and good interpersonal skills.
  • Experience working with individuals in crisis required.
  • Certification in an approved First-Aid and CPR class; or successful completion within 45 days of the date of hire.
  • Ability to become Pro-Act certified and maintain ongoing certification.
  • Insured, registered vehicle in safe working condition, and proof of current CA driver's license.
