About this Opportunity:

The Continuous Improvement Specialist at Vander-Bend Manufacturing is responsible for all continuous improvement activities and supports manufacturing departments to improve throughput and efficiency.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist in defining the continuous improvement vision and culture of the company.
  • Actively seeks and evaluates process improvements and then initiates and complete CI projects.
  • Work closely with manufacturing departments to evaluate and improve their department performance metrics.
  • Train employees in CI philosophies and techniques.
  • Assist in improving teamwork in and between manufacturing departments.
  • Document CI projects and present to management quarterly.
  • Help define and maintain performance metrics for manufacturing departments.
  • Work closely with manufacturing engineering to align root cause analysis and process improvements.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience Requires a 4-year degree in Industrial Engineering or a closely related field, plus at least 5 years of work experience in a related field in a manufacturing environment.

    Additional experience may be substituted for part of the education requirement.
  • Advanced understanding of Lean manufacturing principles and techniques.
  • Knowledge of MRP/ERP systems
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within teams, or independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to effectively lead meetings.
  • Most assigned tasks for this position may involve “Light work”, however some may involve “Medium Work” as defined below. The hiring authority may review the applicant’s physical ability based on the specific tasks to be assigned:
  • Light work:
    Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
  • Medium work:
    Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
