As a Powder Coater, you will operate and maintain automated powder coating equipment to ensure consistent, high‑quality finishes on all parts. You’ll monitor coating quality, troubleshoot issues, and keep the line running smoothly to meet safety, quality, efficiency, LEAN, and production goals. That’s year one.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING (% of Time)- Operate automated powder coating equipment and spray guns, adjusting settings to ensure proper coverage, thickness, and color consistency. (80%)
- Inspect coated parts for defects, troubleshoot equipment or coating issues, and manually paint areas requiring additional coverage. (10%)
- Maintain a clean and organized environmental room. (10%)
- Perform daily startup, maintenance, cleaning, and shutdown procedures, including unclogging spray tips, flushing systems during color changes, and maintaining proper powder levels. (5%)
- Train employees on powder coating equipment and processes as needed. Communicate with leadership regarding quality or production concerns. (5%)
If you can do everything listed above, you’ve got what it takes. Perhaps some of the following would be helpful too:
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- 2–3 years of powder coating experience.
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to perform frequent physical activities including walking (normal, uneven, or slippery surfaces), standing, bending, kneeling, squatting, climbing, twisting, reaching, and repetitive hand/foot motions.
- Basic English reading, writing, and math skills.
- Knowledge of production processes, quality control, and equipment operation.
- Operation Monitoring:
Watching gauges, dials, and indicators to ensure equipment is functioning properly. - Ability to stay focused in a fast‑paced environment.
- Understanding instructions, asking questions when needed, and communicating effectively with team members.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, see, talk, and hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit. This role operates large equipment and needs to constantly position self to maintain the operation of equipment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects weighing up to 50 pounds, and heavier weights with proper equipment.
WORKENVIRONMENT
Regularly works around moving mechanical parts. Noise level is loud. The job may risk exposure to dust, heat and/or cold, wet or humid conditions.
TRAVEL REQUIREDThis job requires no domestic travel.
WORK STATUS & LOCATIONThis full-time, non-exempt position is located in Stockton, CA. This is a Swing shift position (3:30pm – 12:00am).
