Job Description
Position: Production Machinist
Pay Rate: $22.00/hour
Location: Stockton, CA
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Production Machinist to set up and operate a variety of machine shop and manufacturing equipment. This position is responsible for producing parts and tools according to blueprints, work instructions, and production schedules while maintaining high standards of quality, accuracy, and workplace safety.
The ideal candidate has hands-on machining experience, strong mechanical aptitude, and the ability to operate multiple types of manufacturing equipment while maintaining accurate production records and a clean, organized work environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Set up and operate machine shop equipment to manufacture parts and tools according to production requirements.
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, work instructions, and production specifications.
- Operate various manufacturing machines and equipment based on assigned production needs.
- Complete production runs according to established schedules, quality standards, and work instructions.
- Perform equipment setups and make necessary adjustments to maintain production accuracy.
- Inspect manufactured parts to ensure they meet required dimensions, tolerances, and specifications.
- Perform first article inspections (FAI) and other required quality control checks.
- Identify and report defective parts, equipment malfunctions, and production concerns.
- Maintain tooling and request replacements when tools become unsafe, damaged, or unusable.
- Monitor equipment performance and perform routine equipment checks as assigned.
- Maintain accurate production records and required documentation.
- Communicate with coworkers and senior machinists regarding production runs, equipment needs, and operational issues.
- Maintain an organized and clean work area to support safety and efficient production.
- Follow all company safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Perform additional machining and production duties as assigned.
Equipment and Machinery Experience:
- Manual lathes and manual mills
- Threading machines and automatic saws
- Hydraulic presses and ironworkers
- Welding and induction heat-treat equipment
- Injection molding and water jet equipment
- Paint and powder coating equipment
- Precision inspection instruments
Qualifications
- Previous experience in machining, machine operation, metal fabrication, or a related manufacturing environment preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and written instructions.
- Proficient knowledge of the machine shop equipment and manufacturing processes listed above.
- Ability to set up and operate multiple types of production machinery.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience using measuring and inspection instruments to verify part quality.
- Understanding of production tolerances, quality control procedures, and first article inspections.
- Ability to maintain tooling and recognize unsafe or unusable equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing parts that meet specifications.
- Ability to follow production schedules and maintain accurate records.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with production personnel.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety, quality, and productivity.
- Dependable with consistent attendance and punctuality.
