We are seseking a DYNAMIC Director of Nursing for a 99 bed facility in the Stockton area. The ideal candidate will hold a current RN California License, have an excess of two years’ experience as a Director of Nursing or nursing management, be savvy to working within an electric record, have familiarity with MDS, possess knowledge of the regulatory climate of California.
This position will be well compensated based on years of experience and knowledge of the industry with a healthy salary, a robust benefit package, and is available currently. Salary range negotiable Specifics of the job description include but are not limited to the following: BASIC FUNCTION
A Director of Nursing assumes accountability for the delivery of all nursing services in the facility, from a cultural, clinical and financial standpoint. In collaboration with facility Administrator, staff, other departments, medical professionals, consultants, and organizations, including government agencies and advocacy groups, to develop, support and coordinate resident care, related administrative functions, and to represent the interests of the facilities.
RESPONSIBLE TO: the Administrator/Executive Directors, Chief Clinical Officer and Regional Operations Director EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS, AND CREDENTIALS POSITION SPECIFICATIONEDUCATION:
- Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing.
- Valid licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of California
- Current CPR training from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association
- Previous experience as a Director of Nursing is needed
- Knowledgeable regarding the nursing process and its application, including the input of assessment, planning, implementation, MDS knowledge and evaluation of nursing care.
- Savvy to electronic medical record, PCC platform preferred.
- The employee must be able to perform each essential function effectively to be successful in this position.
- Assists in the Development, maintenance, and implementation of nursing policies and procedures that conform to current standards of nursing practice, facility philosophy, and operational policies while guiding compliance with state and federal laws and regulations.
- Communicates and interprets policies and procedures to nursing leadership and assists in monitoring staff practices and implementation.
- Participates in management team meetings to discuss resident status, census changes, personnel, or resident complaints or concerns to coach for better outcomes
- Assists in driving the balance of cultural, clinical and financial success of the region
- Ensures delivery of compassionate quality care and nursing supervision as evidenced by adequate services and staff coverage on unit, absence of odors, general cleanliness, prevention of pressure wounds, and apparent maintenance of optimal resident functions.
- Demonstrates knowledge of and application of Key Clinical Quality Indicators, and proactively monitors and implements systems to achieve and/or surpass company thresholds.
- Collaborates with physicians, consultants, community agencies, and institutions to improve the quality of services and to resolve identified problems.
- Assists in the oversite regional nursing schedules to assure they meet resident needs and regulatory and budgetary standards.
- Skills to provide compassionate, quality care and respect for resident rights.
- Proactively develops positive employee relations, incentives, and recognition programs. Promotes teamwork, mutual respect, and effective communication.
- Performs rounds to observe care and to interview staff, residents, families or other interested parties.
- Monitors staff for compliance with OSHA mandates, Blood born Pathogen Guidelines and facility policies on workplace safety. Proactively develops procedures and incentives to promote workplace safety and safe work practices. Establishes, implements, and monitors the infection control program designed to provide a safe, sanitary, and comfortable environment designed to prevent the devilment and transmission of disease and infection.
- Prepares or reviews infection control surveillance reports to identify trends and to develop effective actions to control and prevent infections. Submits an infection control report to QA Committee.
- Is an active member of the QA Committee for each facility.
- Coordinates and/or develops on-going QA activities for nursing services to monitor nursing compliance with standards and regulatory requirements through rounds, interviews, and record reviews. Compiles summary of findings for the Quality Assurance committee.
- Participates in budget development for the nursing department, and for medical, nursing, and central supplies. Assures nursing staff properly charges out ancillaries used.
- Helps the Administrators prepare staff for inspection surveys, instructing staff on matters of conduct and disclosure, being interviewed by inspectors, immediate corrections of problems noted by surveyors, etc.
