Staff Nurse V - Assistant Nursing Department Manager-Inpt-NICU

Introduction

Position to fill 3 vacancies in Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, requiring online application only. Offers are contingent on background investigation.

• Supervises staff and assists with unit management, scheduling, assignment, performance evaluation, and discipline; participates in employee selection.
• Participates in formulating, interpreting and implementing policies, procedures, and standards of nursing care; coordinates services with other hospital divisions; oversees insurance billing and reimbursement procedures; develops and maintains department budget.
• Performs nursing process and clinical patient care, including therapeutic measures, nursing care plans, and patient assessment.
• Plans, coordinates and administers total patient care; evaluates symptoms, reactions, and progress.
• Teaches and counsels patients and families; provides crisis intervention and referrals as required.
• Maintains patient records, prepares reports, and participates in performance improvement studies.
• Keeps knowledge base current through literature, conferences, and training; participates on committees and represents department externally.

Knowledge of nursing theory, practices, and techniques, current trends, patient care goals, medical treatments, equipment, nursing staffing patterns, management principles, leadership skills, safety practices, and applicable federal and state laws.

Ability to assign, supervise, train and evaluate nursing staff; maintain records; provide empathetic care; instruct patients; coordinate services; manage priorities; work under pressure; promote a positive learning environment.

Mobility: constant walking, frequent keyboard use, standing for long periods, occasional sitting; lifting of heavy objects; visual and hearing requirements; emotional resilience; exposure to emergency situations; occasional overtime; environmental hazards.
