This rapidly growing, ever evolving Long Term Care Facility seeks a nursing leader to steward its team. A Registered Nurse (RN) with at least two years of Director of Nursing or Assistant Director of Nursing experience is preferred, along with knowledge of state and federal guidelines and infection control processes. Excellent clinical leadership as evidenced by current CMS rating and QA ratings;

strong understanding of federal and state regulations; clear and demonstrated understanding of financial stewardship; experience with PCC/eMAR.

Purpose of the Director of Nursing Position Basic Function

A Director of Nursing assumes accountability for the delivery of all nursing services in the facility, from cultural, clinical, and financial standpoints. In collaboration with the facility Administrator, staff, other departments, medical professionals, consultants, government agencies, and advocacy groups, the Director develops, supports, and coordinates resident care, related administrative functions, and represents the interests of the facility.

Responsible to:
Administrator/Executive Director, Chief Clinical Officer, and Regional Operations Director.

Education, Qualifications, and Credentials Position Specification Education
  • Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing.
  • Valid licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of California.
  • Current CPR training from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
Experience
  • Previous experience as a Director of Nursing is required.
  • Knowledgeable regarding the nursing process and its application, including assessment, planning, implementation, MDS knowledge, and evaluation of nursing care.
  • Proficient with electronic medical record; PCC platform preferred.
Essential Job Functions
  • Assist in the development, maintenance, and implementation of nursing policies and procedures that conform to current standards of nursing practice, facility philosophy, and operational policies while guiding compliance with state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Communicate and interpret policies and procedures to nursing leadership and assist in monitoring staff practices and implementation.
  • Participate in management team meetings to discuss resident status, census changes, personnel, or resident complaints or concerns to coach for better outcomes.
  • Assist in driving the balance of cultural, clinical, and financial success of the region.
  • Ensure delivery of compassionate quality care and nursing supervision as evidenced by adequate services and staff coverage on unit, absence of odors, general cleanliness, prevention of pressure wounds, and maintenance of optimal resident functions.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of and application of Key Clinical Quality Indicators, and proactively monitor and implement systems to achieve and/or surpass company thresholds.
  • Collaborate with physicians, consultants, community agencies, and institutions to improve the quality of services and to resolve identified problems.
  • Assist in oversight of nursing schedules to assure they meet resident needs and regulatory and budgetary standards.
  • Provide compassionate, quality care and respect for resident rights.
  • Proactively develop positive employee relations, incentives, and recognition programs; promote teamwork, mutual respect, and effective communication.
  • Perform rounds to observe care and interview staff, residents, families or other interested parties.
  • Monitor staff for compliance with OSHA mandates, Bloodborne Pathogen Guidelines, and facility policies on workplace safety; proactively develop procedures and incentives to promote workplace safety and safe practices.
  • Establish, implement, and monitor the infection control program designed to prevent the transmission of disease and infection.
  • Prepare or review infection control surveillance reports to identify trends and develop effective actions to control and prevent infections; submit an infection control report to QA Committee.
  • Be an active member of the QA Committee for each facility.
