Guaranteed Hours: 40 Hours Per Week
Job DescriptionWe are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join an Acute Care Psychiatric Unit for a 16-week contract assignment. The RN will provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to patients experiencing acute mental health conditions while working collaboratively with an interdisciplinary behavioral health team.
The ideal candidate will have strong psychiatric assessment skills, crisis intervention experience, and the ability to provide safe, therapeutic care in a fast-paced behavioral health environment.
Key Responsibilities- Assess, monitor, and evaluate patients with acute psychiatric conditions.
- Develop and implement individualized nursing care plans.
- Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and facility protocols.
- Monitor patient behavior, mental status, and response to treatment.
- Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation when necessary.
- Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and staff.
- Collaborate with psychiatrists, social workers, therapists, and other healthcare professionals.
- Accurately document patient care, assessments, and interventions in the EMR.
- Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans and discharge needs.
- Ensure compliance with behavioral health policies, procedures, and safety standards.
- Psychiatric Unit with 35 semi-private beds.
- Typical patient populations include:
- Schizophrenia
- Major Depression
- Bipolar Disorder
- Nurse-to-patient ratio may be up to 1:9.

Requirements- Active California RN License.
- Minimum 2 years of Registered Nurse experience required.
- At least 1 year of recent Acute Care experience required.
- Psychiatric/Behavioral Health nursing experience preferred.
- Current BLS Certification required.
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) or AVADE certification required.
- Strong communication, critical-thinking, and crisis-management skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary behavioral health setting.
