Position Summary
Staff Nurse V – Assistant Department Manager, Intensive Care Unit (ICU) – 1 vacancy. This role supervises nursing service units or units during a shift, assists the Nursing Department Manager in assessment of patient needs, staff performance, coordination of services, and management of the unit in the manager’s absence.
Responsibilities- Supervise staff and assist with management of the unit or units; plan and implement staff schedules; assign work to professional, para‑professional and technical staff to maintain high quality of patient care.
- Evaluate performance of staff, discipline assigned personnel, and participate in the selection of new employees.
- Formulate, interpret and implement policies, procedures and standards of nursing care; coordinate services with other hospital divisions and manage budgeting.
- Initiate and perform clinical patient care, including therapeutic measures prescribed by medical authority.
- Plan, coordinate, and administer total patient care and document nursing care plans.
- Educate and counsel patients and families, supervise therapy groups, and provide crisis interventions when necessary.
- Maintain records, prepare reports, and conduct performance improvement studies.
- Update nursing knowledge through literature and continuing education.
- Participate in committees and represent the department to outside organizations as assigned.
- Possession of ACLS, Critical Care class, and Preceptor class or equivalent.
- Pattern I:
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or related field; two (2) years of progressively responsible experience as a registered nurse in an acute care hospital ICU, including one (1) year at a level equivalent to Staff Nurse IV. - Pattern II:
National Certification; same experience requirements as Pattern I. - Current registration as a nurse in the State of California.
Salary: $12,529 – $15,230 per month.
Frontline Compensation:
Charge Pay $3.00/hour;
Preceptor Pay $2.00/hour;
Standby Pay 33% of base salary;
Longevity Pay 7.5% after 10 years, 10% after 15 years.
