* The Senior Loss Prevention Officer (SLPA) plays a crucial role in supporting loss prevention strategies to prevent financial losses due to theft, fraud, and operational errors. This position is an enhanced Loss Prevention Agent role, requiring a successful track record of productivity, leadership, and in-depth understanding of loss prevention techniques. They are an integral part of the team, ensuring a secure shopping and working environment.
This role is part of the Loss Prevention Field Team. This position requires regular travel by vehicle between locations to support LP operations. The SLPA reports to the LP Supervisor (LP-Sup) and assists them in day-to-day operations, leads by example, and provide elevated support within the loss prevention program.
** Essential Functions of the Role:
*** Assist the LP Supervisor in overseeing daily loss prevention activities, providing guidance, coaching, and training to Loss Prevention Agents (LPA) and/or Loss Prevention Security Specialists (LPS).
* Onboard new Loss Prevention Agents and/or LP Security Specialists, and provide continuous training to share knowledge and best practices to improve individual and team performance.
* Act as a point of contact for the loss prevention team in the absence of the LP Supervisor, ensuring smooth operations.
* Take the lead in conducting store patrols and monitoring surveillance systems, ensuring consistent coverage and vigilance.
* Lead the initial response to incidents of theft, fraud, or other suspicious activities, coordinating with the team and escalating to the LP Supervisor as needed.
* Conduct thorough investigations by reviewing CCTV footage, gathering evidence, and interviewing witnesses or suspects.
* Engage directly with individuals involved in theft incidents, resolve issues professionally and in accordance with company policies.
* Work closely with store management to ensure loss prevention strategies are effectively implemented in daily operations.
* Collaborate with law enforcement or external security teams during investigations, providing necessary support and information.
* Prepare incident reports and summaries for the Loss Prevention Supervisor, highlighting key findings and recommendations.
* Ensure all loss prevention activities comply with company policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
* Stay updated on the latest loss prevention practices and security technologies, applying this knowledge to daily tasks.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
** Knowledge:
*** Competent understanding of retail operations, including basic sales processes, inventory management, and customer service.
* Intermediate to advanced knowledge of loss prevention strategies, including surveillance techniques and methods for identifying security risks.
* Familiarity with legal aspects of retail security, such as the proper handling of evidence and understanding of theft and fraud laws.

** Must be able to move around the store and stand for long periods, including walking, climbing stairs, and navigating crowded spaces.
* Ability to occasionally lift or move objects weighing up to 50 lbs., including assisting in preventing theft and emergencies.
* Must possess solid visual acuity to observe suspicious activities and monitor security cameras. Auditory acuity is required to detect sounds indicative of theft or other emergencies.
* Sufficient manual dexterity to operate security equipment, manage handcuffs (if applicable and legally permitted), and perform tasks such as writing reports.
